Buddhist Art is as varied as the cultures that made them. I am intrigued by the strength and beauty of Buddhist artworks and their cultures but also by the spiritual connection & how the art works as a reminder of one’s commitment to the Buddhist practice and of the power of kindness.

The power of Himalayan Art or Vajrayana is a form of Mahayana Buddhism that originated in northern India, it is widely known as Tantric Buddhism in the Himalayas and is also found in Japan, in the Shingon and Tendai traditions.

The artworks below from different cultures show some beautiful serene Buddhas & some tantric Buddhist imagery, please take the time to look through the other Asian Art Galleries, there are amazing Himalayan Tsakli Painting that is how visual & oral teaching was transmitted. The Japanese gallery has many interesting folk art & natural form wood objects with the most refined aesthetics.  See my gallery of Exhibitions, Publications and Collaboration with Museums & Art Galleries
